True Religion Sunglasses Now Available!

We proudly announce that True Religion Sunglasses are now carried in our Hyde Park office!

From True Religion's Website: TrueReligionEyewear.com:

True Religion Sunglasses use specially polarized lenses to reduce glare from reflective surfaces such as the surface of a lake or the hood of a car.

They accomplish this feat through a process called polarization, much like a venetian blind controls sunlight through a window.
Sunlight is absorbed or reflected horizontally, diagonally or vertically. Sunlight bouncing off a surface can strike the viewer’s eyes, causing extreme glare.

TRUE RELIGION Polarized lenses have a special laminated surface that allows vertically-polarized light to enter the wearer’s eyes. TRUE RELIGION Polarized lenses eliminate glare because the horizontally-polarized light waves cannot bypass our special polarized filter.

WingEyecare.com

If you didn't know already, I'd like you all to take the time to visit our brand new looking website http://www.wingeyecare.com/. We'd like to give a special thanks to US Digital Partners for helping us make this possible. Our old website was just that, old, out-dated, and sometimes hard to navigate. Our new website makes it easier for YOU to find what you need. We have a faster, more efficient way to order contacts and schedule appointments. You can be on any page on our website and with one click schedule an appointment or re-order contact lenses. Another huge advantage to our website is its all done in HTML 5. As many of you may or may not know many newer websites are done using Adobe's Flash which can make websites load slower or make it hard to view properly if you do not have Flash installed on your computer or if you are viewing it from your iPad or other mobile device (mobile phones are automatically redirected to our mobile website).

Be sure to tell us what you think! Email: service@wingeyecare.com

The Wing Eyecare Difference

Every business, regardless of market or industry, claims to be "different" or "better" than the competition. With this in mind, why should you believe us when we say we are unique? Why should you accept our claims of superior service and value as the truth? Allow us to explain...

Our Facilities
Each of our 10 offices (soon to be 11) is equipped with the latest in diagnostic equipment. This allows us to provide the most comprehensive eye examinations available to over 35,000 patients each year. Wing Lab, our state-of-the-art centralized laboratory facility and frame distribution center, produces over 20,000 pairs of custom-made eyeglasses annually. We also fit more patients with contact lenses than any other practice in Greater Cincinnati. It is this kind of volume that provides us with the unique purchasing power and ability to offer prices that are comparable to (and in many cases lower than) national retail chains.

Wing Eyecare was built on a foundation of a successful, single office family practice right here in Cincinnati, OH. The same friendly, professional service that Dr. Wing established years ago is practiced in our offices today. Our commitment to patient service is a reflection of our history, our philosophy, and our mission.

Our Doctors
Optometrists working with national optical retailers are typically independent contractors who examine patients and, in some cases, sell contact lenses. The retail operation, which sells eyeglasses, is a separate entity and is operated by retail managers. In contrast, our doctors are not separate but assume the leadership role as "practice managers".

In contrast, Wing Eyecare believes the leadership of its doctors within their offices is one of our strongest assets. Instead of having retail managers who are primarily concerned with sales goals, our eyecare professionals are primarily concerned with patient care, so our patients receive the very best in complete vision care services

Our Staff
Each office is staffed with licensed optical professionals. Unlike national retailers, our office managers are not exclusively focused on administration of daily operations. They also serve as professionally licensed opticians with significant experience in the field of eyecare.

Our opticians are similarly qualified and experienced. They work with each patient individually to provide assistance in choosing the best eyewear options. Our opticians take special care to ensure that patients are satisfied with their glasses and contact lenses and that their prescriptions are filled accurately.

Front desk technicians act as the communication center within the offices. They are trained to assist patients with general inquiries and to schedule appointments with the doctor and for contact lens fittings. They also gather information regarding insurance coverageso that our central insurance group can submit insurance claims for our patients.

Our Philosophy
Our philosophy was shaped by the tradition of excellence in eyecare that began with a small family practice in 1914 and was continued for three generations. Our locations are "offices" not "stores". Every individual that enters our office is a "patient" rather than simply a "customer".

We value our patients. A practice cannot grow from 2 to 10 successful offices in less than 17 years without the benefit of patient loyalty. As expressed in our mission statement, "We are dedicated to the total eye care needs of our patients and to providing the maximum quality of care to each and every patient. Every decision we make and every action we take will be directed toward this goal" - that is the Wing Eyecare difference!

VSP promotes eye exams for overall health

(BizJournals.com) VSP will launch a campaign May 21 in five states to increase awareness of the connection between eye care and general health — and the role eye doctors play in the detection and treatment of diabetes.
The campaign will start in Arkansas and move to Kansas, Texas, Colorado and Indiana. It includes an online video exploring the link between comprehensive eye exams and detecting serious diseases.

Rancho Cordova-based VSP has partnered with the American Diabetes Association to provide diabetes information online at vsp.com/discovery and the “Ask the Eye Doctor” section of the association’s website at diabetes.org. A free continuing education course will be offered in each city for all licensed optometrists.

“The first of its kind, the VSP Eye on Diabetes campaign is designed to increase consumer awareness around the importance of comprehensive eye care in detecting and managing diabetes, as well as support our doctors with continuing education in providing this essential care,” Cheryl Johnson, VSP’s vice president of provider services, said in a press release.

Have VSP insurance? Wing Eyecare accepts it! Having your vison checked regularly is vital to your health. Be sure to visit http://www.wingeyecare.com/ to schedule an appointment!

Don't Pass Up An Annual Eye Exam!

By EMILY ROSENBERG (thedailyjournal.com) Your teeth get cleaned.

Your car gets an oil change. Your hair gets a trim.

But how often do you think of your eyes -- unless something goes wrong? If you're like most Americans, it's not often enough.

High-quality vision care is important to every member of your family. Sadly, fewer than 50 percent of Americans get eye exams more frequently than every two years, despite the fact most adults consider vision their most important sense.
One in five people are at risk for vision loss, and many of the problems could have been addressed through preventive care.

The best thing you can do for your eyes is to get a complete exam annually.

Regular vision screenings are more than getting glasses or contacts. Many eye and vision problems have no obvious signs or symptoms. As a result, people are often unaware that problems exist.

Annual exams not only help correct vision problems. Comprehensive eye exams also can reveal the warning signs of more serious, undiagnosed health problems, such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

Even if you don't need vision correction, you need that yearly exam.

It's a safety issue.

Imagine if the other drivers next to you on the highway hadn't had a vision test in the past few years -- wouldn't you feel more safe if they did?

Adults aren't the only ones who need to have their eyes checked regularly.

One in four children has a vision problem that interferes with learning. Eye care experts say children should have their first eye exam before they can even walk.

The American Optometric Association recommends a six-month exam to make sure the baby's eyes are developing normally and to stop bigger problems down the road. After that, a yearly trip will keep tabs on young eyes that can change fast.

Eye exams are simple and painless. During a preventive eye exam, your doctor will check all aspects of your vision, including the structure of the eyes and how well they work together.

Based on the findings of the exam, your eye doctor will recommend a plan that's right for you. The good news is that eye exams don't hurt, and they typically take less than an hour to complete.

Periodic eye and vision examinations are an important part of preventive health care.

Early diagnosis and treatment of eye and vision problems are important for maintaining good vision and eye health, and when possible, preventing vision loss.

If you haven't had your vision checked recently, give Wing Eyecare a call. Open as late as 8pm on the weekdays and open on Saturdays, there's no excuse not to have a convenient eye-exam.

Currently Wing Eyecare is having $49 eye exams through the month of May. Don't miss out on almost 50% of your savings (typical eye exams cost $91).
